We will explore the potential of nanotubes in nanoelectronics and quantum applications. We will learn in practice some fabrication methods of carbon nanotubes as well as lithography techniques to fabricate simple devices. We will learn how to theoretically simulate electrostatic potential caused by electrical gate contacts placed on the nanotube. Student can attend course on simulations in physics in COMSOL program at the faculty and use the program at local computers. The goal of this project will be to design simple nanotube-based device that can control electrostatic potential along the nanotube, which is a concept used in quantum applications to create quantum dots. With the assistance of supervisor, student will then fabricate his designed device and analyze it by current transport measurements.
